Martha, a 57-kilo Neapolitan Mastiff was crowned the winner of the 29th annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest in California on Friday, June 23.
She faced stiff competition from 13 other unsightly hounds, some with acne, others with tongues permanently sticking out of their mouths.
In past years the competition has been dominated by older, smaller dogs, but this year the larger-figured Martha came out on top.
The canines were judged on first impressions, unusual attributes, personality and audience reaction.
