Sam Allardyce was officially appointed England manager on Friday.

At the held of the three lions the 61-year-old replaces Roy Hodgson who quit immediately after England were stunned by minnows Iceland in the last 16 of the European Championship.

The former Sunderland, Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn and West Ham boss has signed a two-year deal with England.

His main objective is to qualify the national team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but also to restore national pride after the shock of Euro 2016.

Allardyce’s first competitive game in charge is a world cup qualifier against Slovakia on September 4.
