The magnificent Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament (houses, plural, because it contains both the Commons and the Lords) is steeped in history.
Delightfully - but to some degree, bafflingly - that history still pervades the echoing, buttressed corridors, and it's this very unchanging nature that sets the UK parliament apart. The protocol of lawmaking in Britain remains antiquated, but thanks to our explainer, it needn't be impenetrable.
