An explosion at a crime laboratory in Brussels early on Monday is being dealt with as a criminal offence, with no immediate indications of terrorism although nothing has been ruled out.
Prosecutors say the blast at Belgium’s National Institute of Criminology was the result of an arson attack.
Local media reported that a vehicle ram-raided gates to access the site.

No one was on the premises and there are no injuries although damage to the building is said to be significant.
The institute is linked to the Belgian Ministry of Justice and carries out forensic investigations in criminal cases, according to its website.
Five people have been detained in connection with the blaze.
