Spain’s public prosecutor is requesting a four-and-a-half year jail sentence for banker Rodrigo Rato, the former IMF chief who is being investigated over an expenses scandal while CEO of Bankia.

The charges relate to the alleged misuse of company credit cards.

Rato denies the allegations and the case has yet to go to trial.
