Authorities in Burkina Faso have stepped up their hunt for former president Blaise Compaoré.
The country’s military justice body has issued an international arrest warrant for Compaoré over his alleged involvement in the death of ex Burkina Faso president Thomas Sankara.
Sankara was killed in the 1987 coup that brought Compaoré to power.
A source close to the situation, who requested anonymity, confirmed to news agency AFP that Compaoré was the subject of the arrest warrant, adding the charges against him murder and concealing a body.
Compaoré, ousted from power in 2014, is thought to be living in the Ivory Coast.
