Tajikistan’s former deputy defence minister is on the run after security forces stormed an isolated gorge near the capital and confiscated a large arms cache and arrested 14 men.
The government says they are part of former General Abdukhalim Nazarzoda’s “criminal gang”, and accuse him of belonging to an Islamist political party.
