Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday to discuss peace negotiations and the US-Russia peace plan.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to Paris on Monday for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on peace negotiations, the Élysée announced on Saturday.

The two leaders will discuss "the situation and the conditions for a just and lasting peace, in continuity with the Geneva discussions, the American plan, and in close coordination with our European partners," Macron's office said.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot told local press the meeting aimed to advance negotiations. "Peace is within reach, if (Russian President) Vladimir Putin abandons his delusional hope of reconstituting the Soviet Empire by first subjugating Ukraine," he said.

The announcement comes as a Ukrainian delegation visits the United States to discuss the US-Russia peace plan. Zelenskyy said he expects a report on Sunday.

US negotiators are due to visit Moscow this week.

Kyiv's European allies are pushing to play a role in the ongoing talks, with the Coalition of the Willing meeting last Tuesday.

Zelenskyy recently visited France as part of efforts to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries.
