A voter in Poland who scrawled an anarchy symbol in an apparent bid to spoil his ballot paper may have inadvertently backed someone.

A voter in Poland who scrawled an anarchy symbol in an apparent bid to spoil his ballot paper may have inadvertently backed someone.

The horizontal and diagonal lines of the A went through the box for Michał Syska, a candidate for pro-EU party Spring (Wiosna).

Technically, as the lines crossed inside the box, it could be considered an 'x'. But it's unclear whether authorities accepted it as a valid vote.

Nevertheless, Michał Syska, who would have benefited if authorities had of approved the ballot, took to Facebook to thank his "backer".
