Ognyan Gerdzhikov has been appointed as Bulgaria’s caretaker prime minister.

Ognyan Gerdzhikov has been appointed as Bulgaria’s caretaker prime minister.

The 70 year old will be in charge until the end of March.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev says he will dissolve Parliament on Friday and hold early elections on March 26.

Gerdzhikov, a professor of law, served as parliamentary speaker in a centrist government from 2001 to 2005.

Kiril Ananiev, 61, currently a deputy finance minister, will take over as finance minister.
