Switzerland has a habit of regularly going to the polls to decide the big questions affecting the country, so it is no surprise that people are being asked to pick its newest national anthem.
There is a choice between six songs. Half have the same tune as the current anthem with a slight change of text, while the others are musically modified versions of the existing song. And as Switzerland has four national languages, there’s a version of to satisfy all speakers.
People can vote online from now until May when the songs will be whittled down to three before another contest will decide the ultimate winner in September.
