McLaren’s Fernando Alonso has escaped without injury from a heavy crash on the final day of pre-season testing in Barcelona on Sunday.
The Spaniard, twice world champion, hit the wall on the exit of turn three with just 15 minutes remaining in the morning session
He was taken to the circuit’s medical centre for initial treatment and was airlifted to hospital but was conscious and talking according to McLaren.
