A US jury has found a homeowner guilty of deliberate homicide after shooting a German exchange student who entered his garage.
The case has tested Montana state’s ‘castle doctrine’ of self defence law.
Markus Kaarma was accused of luring the would-be burglar to his death by deliberately leaving out money after installing motion detectors.
Prosecuters also argued that Kaarma did not believe he was in any danger to justify shooting the youngster nor was it necessary to reposition himself for a final shot of an already wounded individual.
